Ys X: Nordics is confirmed by Falcom, first images for this sequel which will arrive in 2023

Falcon recently presented its plans for the year 2023, which necessarily include the tenth episode of the series ys. So far, only one concept art had reached us, leaving us somewhat in the dark about the story and the theme of this opus. It is now a little clearer with the first official images of the gamewho confirm that the title will finally be called Ys X: Nordicsand that he will take Adol on a hell of a journey.

Skull Ys Bones

Our red-haired protagonist will obviously be back for this sequel, which will take him to the northern seas of Obelia Bay to meet a new people and a new threat of immortal undead (a whole concept), the Griegers.

And to illustrate the fact that Adol is a fighter, we can finally control it at sea by taking the helm of a boat which will allow us to sail the seas in search of islands but also of take part in naval battles. In addition to this mode of travel, the images hint at a sort of flying surfboard and grappling hook to move through nature.

Big changes in sight for the fights?

Unlike the more than aging graphics engine, the fights will drastically change by offering two modes. The first, named the “Solo Mode”, will let you control a single character freely while letting the AI manage the attacks of his teammate (obviously there would be only one partner?).

In the “Combination Mode”, you will be able to control the actions of both characters at the same time, without further details at this time. We are also told that a new mana system will be present to give you access to certain actions in the dungeons.

For now, Ys X: Nordics is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023 in Japan, certainly before September. Nothing has been confirmed yet for the West, which will no doubt have to wait a little longer.
