Yvelines: a million euros of jewelry stolen during a grinder burglary


The burglars stole no less than 12,000 jewels from the Parly 2 shopping center before fleeing.

They took advantage of the Sunday closure to act with impunity. On Sunday, individuals robbed a jewelry store in the Parly 2 shopping center, in Chesnay-Rocquencourt, a town bordering Versailles in the Yvelines, reports a police source to the Figaroconfirming information from Parisian . The damage amounts to one million euros.

The facts were fully filmed by the mall’s CCTV cameras. Around 6 a.m., two hooded men arrive near the Marc Orian store. Equipped with a grinder, they cut through the iron curtain of the store then enter the interior of the jewelry store. For thirty minutes, they seize some 12,000 jewels, before fleeing.

The second jewelry store burglary in the Yvelines in a week

It was a passerby who then gave the alert, warning the police at 1:25 p.m. An alarm system was present in the store, but the alert was sent to the manager’s cell phone, which did not report anything. Contacted by Le Figaro, the managers of the store did not wish to react immediately. For its part, the prosecution confirms the opening of an investigation, entrusted to the Regional Service of the Judicial Police (SRPJ) of Versailles. The police are hoping to find fingerprints inside the jewelry store, which could put them on the trail of the criminals.

This is the second burglary of this type in less than a week in the Yvelines. Thursday July 28, the jewelry store of a Leclerc supermarket in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine was also attacked. According to the Actu17 site, two store employees were injured during the robbery. The two suspects also managed to escape.
