Yvelines: a temporary hospital worker monitored the comings and goings of patients for a horrible reason

A 38-year-old man, hospital temporary worker, was sentenced to 2 years in prison for taking advantage of the misfortune of patients in a horrible way.

Abuse of weakness. According to information from Parisiana 38-year-old man was recently sentenced to 2 years in prison by the court of Versailles for theft and fraudulent use of credit cards. His crime? Having taken advantage of his job as a temporary hospital worker to steal from hospitalized patients at his place of work. It all started in September 2022, when a patient from the Poissy Saint-Germain-en-Laye intermunicipal hospital center files a complaint for theft after realizing that his wallet was missing while he was away for a medical examination.

The culprit then wasted no time since, as the victim had then specified, activities had been recorded on his bank card on the day of the theft. This is how, as our colleagues from the Parisianthe investigators of the Urban Security of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine were able to pursue the thief and realize thanks to the examination of other files that similar cases had taken place in another health establishment a few days before. Indeed the culprit, who was finally apprehended, had managed to get hired as a temporary hospital worker in four different hospitals.

A shameful method

Taking advantage of the absence of patients who left for examinations, he then entered their room to steal their bank card and steal all the information necessary for their use. It was in early December that the police ended up arresting him and placing him in police custody until his hearing before the Versailles court. Although he doesn’t have not confessed to all the crimes he was accused ofthe man was found guilty.
