Yvonne Catterfeld lives under one roof with a Ukrainian family. With her and her family, the singer celebrates Christmas in a slightly different way.
In 2022, the terrible events in Ukraine in particular shook people. Yvonne Catterfeld, 43, hasn’t let go of the images of the population suffering from the war either. The singer no longer wanted to stand by and watch, she took a Ukrainian family into her home.

The negative changes in the world also cause great concern for her personally. “Today I see a situation that I can no longer trust,” the singer looks back on a politically “very strenuous and dark” year.
“The mother, the older daughter and the little girl fled in March and are now living with us, the father is still in the Ukraine. They are really very fine people,” reports Yvonne Catterfeld in the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” about her roommates . But the troubled political times have unsettled the singer. Life in Germany would also become increasingly difficult. “I wonder how many retirees can do that. I used to feel safe and comfortable, today I see a situation that I can no longer trust. Everything is shaking and swaying,” the 43-year-old worries.
First Christmas after confirmation of separation
Despite the concerns, Catterfeld cannot be taken away from the anticipation of the contemplative time. Starting in October, you can eat gingerbread and start buying Christmas presents from the singer. The whole family and their Ukrainian roommates celebrate. To make the feast less stressful this year, the actress decided to forego a goose. “Now we’re having a barbecue – my dad is standing outside and frying sausages, along with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes,” reveals Yvonne Catterfeld.
This Christmas marks a somewhat sad first anniversary for Catterfeld. On December 25, 2022, she and actor Oliver Wnuk, 46, announced their split. At the time, Yvonne wrote on Instagram: “We spend Christmas together – but we haven’t been lovers since this spring.” It is not known whether Wnuk is also celebrating the festival with her and their son Charlie, 8.
