The platform arrives in France “with the objective of promoting actions in favor of circularity, such as extending the life of customers’ Zara clothes, contributing to the reduction of waste and the consumption of new raw materials”specifies, by press release, the Spanish group, whose global turnover reached 32.57 billion euros in 2022.

According to this distributor known for renewing its collections in stores very frequently, the launch is part of its sustainable development strategy. He ranks among the « initiatives [qui] will reduce emissions [de CO2] of the group by more than 50% by 2030, with a view to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, with a reduction of at least 90% of its emissions”, we observe at Inditex. This offer is put online at the same time as a free repair service for Zara items and a clothing donation scheme in its 110 French sales outlets.

Further encourage purchase

Obviously, Zara, the first of the seven brands of Inditex, which dresses women, men and children, is mainly positioned in the vigorous market for online second-hand sales. Objective: to bring fans of these second-hand clothes that hunt on Vinted to its own sales site. Because, alongside Nike and other Shein, the Spanish brand ranks among the most sought after on the site’s search engine.

Zara will thus move this audience to its own online sales site, Zara.com. Once connected, those who have come to unearth a second-hand dress or jeans could then be tempted to buy new ballet flats or sneakers… Even if it means still encouraging purchases, to the chagrin of those who denounce the overconsumption of clothes in France.
