It’s a sad day that had a few surprises in store: Zara Tindall didn’t leave the memorial service in honor of ex-King Constantine with her husband Mike, but instead supported Sir Jackie Stewart.
On February 20, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Camilla, 76, is accompanied by several members of the British royal family to the memorial service of Constantine of Greece, †82. Now it is known: Zara Tindall, 42, also supported the royal wife, who had to appear without her husband King Charles, 75, who was suffering from cancer, and had to represent him.
However, Zara did not leave St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the service took place on Tuesday afternoon, February 27, 2024, with her husband Mike Tindall, 45 – but arm in arm with Sir Jackie Stewart, 84.

The older man whom Zara lovingly supports here is Formula 1 icon Sir Jackie Stewart, who was also one of the guests who paid their last respects to ex-King Constantine that day. The former British automobile racing driver and motorsport official was once honored by Queen Elizabeth, †96, with the “Order of the British Empire” for his services.

Renewed commemoration due to close family connections
It is the third funeral service in honor of Constantine. King Charles and Prince William, 41, were unable to attend the exiled monarch’s funeral on February 18, 2023. They had to be represented by Princess Anne and Lady Gabriella Windsor, 42.
Because of this and because of close family connections, another memorial service has now taken place in Windsor. In addition to European royals, other members of the British royal family such as Prince Andrew, 64, ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 64, her daughter Princess Beatrice, 35, and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 40, also appeared.
Constantine died on January 10, 2023 in Athens at the age of 82. The former king of Greece previously suffered a severe stroke.
