ZDF Fernsehgarten: the broadcaster reports on rumors of discontinuation

Is it the “ZDF Fernsehgarten” on the collar? ZDF is planning far-reaching restructuring in order to reach a younger target group. The new strategy runs under the motto “One ZDF for everyone”. According to a report by “Bild am Sonntag”, even the popular “TV Garden” with moderator Andrea Kiewel, 57, could be put to the test as part of the change in strategy. The ratings are still good: at the end of August 2022, the market share of the total audience was 17.1 percent. In August, the makers brought in a remarkable 21.6 percent. But the broadcaster’s vision for the future also envisages good performance in the media library. The viewing figures there do not seem to be satisfactory for the TV veteran. Another shortcoming of the Sunday lunchtime show, which is produced from spring through fall, is that it’s just too expensive to produce.

However, the broadcaster first gave the all-clear: An immediate end for the “TV garden” is not yet an issue. At the request of the “BamS” it was said that “currently there are no corresponding plans”. Compared to the “schlager.de” portal, it was explained: “This year, too, viewers can look forward to proven entertainment from the ‘ZDF television garden’. The new season starts on May 7th.” Breathe a sigh of relief for Kiwi and her loyal fans. The Lerchenberg will be a star-studded weekend meeting place again this year. Further speculation can therefore safely be postponed to next year.

After a health-related break: Alexander Bommes will start again at the “Sportschau” in March

Great news: Alexander Bommes, 47, seems to be in better health. He’ll be back on TV next month. The “Asked – Hunted” moderator had to give up moderating the World Cup last year due to health problems. At the latest when he had to cancel the moderation of the 2023 World Handball Championship, his fans were very worried. But now there is the all-clear: At the request of “Sport Bild”, the ARD explained that Alexander Bommes will soon be seen again in the “Sportschau”: “The ‘Sportschau’ is currently planning again with Alexander Bommes from March If we are not fit again at the time, we will fill the relevant programs with other presenters,” said ARD.

“Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen”: That’s why presenter Alina Merkau has been missing for weeks

On December 19, 2022, Alina Merkau, 36, still moderated the popular “Sat.1 breakfast television”, then it became quiet about the mother of two children. The TV face, who has been part of the permanent team of presenters since 2014, has not been in the studio in front of the camera for almost two months now. Concerned fan voices are increasing on social media, asking where Alina is or whether she has a new job. Now the station reacts and explains her absence.
