In all discretion, Nokia and ZEISS have ended the partnership that has united them for many years now.

A relationship that ended in 2021!

ZEISS and Nokia quietly divorce

ZEISS is a German company specializing in particular in photographic lenses and which was responsible for equipping Nokia smartphones. This collaboration between the two companies actually goes back more than fifteen years since they joined forces for the very first time in 2005, on the occasion of the release of the Nokia N90. That doesn’t make us any younger…

On July 25, nokimob took on the task of contacting the ZEISS brand after noticing the disappearance of Nokia from the list of partners on its website. It is therefore through this that the site officially got wind of the divorce between the Finn and the German, by the latter’s own admission:

“After a long and successful collaboration, ZEISS and HMD Global have mutually agreed in 2021 not to extend their non-exclusive partnership which included a collaboration for “Nokia” branded smartphone imaging technologies with ZEISS as consulting and support partner. development “.

Since 2017, the phones marketed by HMD Global, the company in charge of manufacturing Nokia devices, were delivered with photo modules signed ZEISS. The Nokia XR20 will therefore remain the latest fruit of the collaboration between the two long-time allies. In 2020, ZEISS announced its association with vivo and the company will probably continue to offer its services to various manufacturers in order to equip other Android smartphones.

Anyway, at the moment, we don’t know the motive behind this separation. We also do not know if this is a decision made by mutual agreement or the will of one of the two companies.
