Now that Elden Ring is a reality and many of you have seen the end credits, we’ll have to wait for the day when another game of this magnitude will see the light of day. The list of known suitors is not very long, to tell the truth for the moment only Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 appears there (be careful we are talking about concrete, The Witcher 4 and GTA 6 are still far away) and with him the enormous pressure to at least do as well as Zelda Breath of the Wild, which is no mean feat. Standard-bearer of a new way of seeing the open-world, Zelda BOTW remains an example of gaming pleasure in an immense universe where nothing or almost nothing is given to you. In this article, we’re going to revisit some of our favorite adventure shrines, it should help you remember why this is such a cult title.
Zelda Breath of the Wild Shrine: Full Walkthrough
This article will be based on our complete Zelda BOTW Shrines walkthrough. In the latter, we have videos for a lot of small puzzle dungeons from this episode, it will help us to remind you of what some of these buildings offer. Moreover, the interactive map offered inside the article is probably the best you can find on the subject, if your quest is to obtain the tunic of the moors, or simply complete the DLC 2 of Zelda Breath of the Wild.
Kiyo’Uh Shrine
All the crossing of the Lost Woods to arrive at the famous Master Sword is one of the great moments of exploration of Zelda Breath of the Wild. The atmosphere becomes heavier, the music recalls that of the Lost Woods of the mythical A Link to the Past and many sanctuaries in the company of the Korogu await you. And among them, therefore, the famous Kiyo’Uh shrine, which contains one of the most complex puzzles in the game. trying to finish it.
Where to find it?
- In the Lost Woods area.
The 3 labyrinths
Scattered across the world map, Zelda BOTW’s mazes are welcome trials, a bit complicated, but a bit of a break from the routine of the classic shrine format. These are huge successions of corridors well isolated from the rest of Hyrule and in which you will obviously have to try to find your way back, in order to access the elevators leading to the monks of each of them. Watch out for the one in the Akkala region and its basement full of guards (at worst go with the Hylian shield), a piece of a set of clothes is there.
Where to find them?
- In the areas of Akkala, Hebra and the Gerudo Desert
Finalis Island
This one must have left no one indifferent and like the labyrinth sanctuaries, it denotes quite a bit with the vast majority of the game’s sanctuaries.. By sailing well east of Firone, you will come across a deserted island on which you will be put to the test: without equipment and using only what you find there, you will have to collect 3 orbs at a point very precise of the zone to release the famous orb. This trial is a distillation of everything the game does well, forcing you to improvise with a few resources and your knowledge of the gameplay.

The Twin Shrines
It is more for what it represents than for its concrete content that this sanctuary marked us. If you follow the path to Cocorico fairly quickly after leaving the Prelude Plateau, it is impossible that you will not come across this duo of shrines on the way. Both of them respond to each other and you will have to use your memory to redo the right combinations. This is the first example of a dungeon that will require you to think “beyond” the 4 neon blue walls of a sanctuary in order to find the solution.
Where to find it?
- Area of the Geminates / Cocorico
Myama’gana Shrine
Located near the house you can buy, this shrine shows off the full power of the game’s emergent gameplay potential with its flawless physics. Yet it is disconcertingly simple, but it is in its “annex” solution that this sanctuary is interesting. It is a ball to be directed on a labyrinth which is done entirely with a gyroscope: potentially “relou” if you do not like motion detection, but you can take the tangent by directly flipping the maze board to make it completely flat. Difficult to explain like that, but watching the video everything should seem clear to you.
Where to find it?
Kui’Takka Shrine
This test will perhaps teach you some things about the physics of Zelda Breath of the Wild and in particular about the management of heat and its effects in the game. In this shrine, your goal will be to hold a piece of ice for the duration of its exploration, so it will automatically be lost if you carry a fire sword on your back. By his mere presence, the equipment will participate in the melting of the cube and this information will be very useful to you when you travel to the Hebra zone.
Where to find it?
- In the Gerudo Desert area.
Ka’Okyo Shrine
Like the one above, this shrine is a great application of in-game physics, but this time it’s wind and pure physics that are on display. With a simple sheet, you will have to hover a metal platform supported by 4 balloons. By blowing on it correctly, you will be able to print the right trajectory for your boat, in a small obstacle course not stung by beetles. A rather difficult sanctuary, precisely because of this realistic physics and therefore not necessarily always easy to control.
Where to find it?
- In the Tabanta / Piaf area
Blood Moon Night
Nothing special in this shrine to unearth by completing the little riddle associated with it. He marked us, especially because he is perhaps the only real use in the phases of Blood Moon, supposed to make enemies more formidable. It’s a good concept though, and it takes the Zelda BOTW vibe into darker “leases”, like a sweet reminder of Majora’s Mask. We really hope that Breath of the Wild 2 will venture more into the meanders of Hyrule by getting closer to this very special feeling offered by the land of Termina.
Where to find it?
- In the West Hills area.
The Seven Heroines
Here’s one that stood out to us, but not necessarily for the right reasons: gathering the 7 orbs necessary for the appearance of this shrine is not really our definition of fun. There are, like that, sanctuaries less good than the others: out of the dozens of tombs in Zelda BOTW, it’s almost inevitable, there are failures. As far as we are concerned, this little exploration on the outskirts of the Gerudo Desert exploits the magnificent area of the statues very badly by “stupidly” hiding these damned orbs which are already far too crossed in the game.

All Zelda Breath of the Wild DLC 2: Ode to the Wonders
Zelda Breath of the Wild’s second content expansion perfectly complements the base game experience, with a new batch of really interesting shrines. We could not give you concrete examples on the fly, however these rooms offer a challenge significantly above the average and its home stretch offers a boss fight worthy of a good conclusionunlike the confrontation against Ganon, impressive certainly, but disappointing in terms of challenge.
Shrines DLC 1: About Monks
To improve the power of the Master Sword, players were able to pass the Trials of the Sword, which corresponds to the first DLC pack of Zelda BOTW. A huge reference to Zelda Ocarina of Time is contained in these new rooms, since each of the monks you will meet inside, takes the pose of one of the 7 sages who preserves the course of time and the good health of Hyrule in OOT, as you can see in this video of Gameexplain.
