Zelda: ToTK: how to skip cutscenes (boss, Blood Moon…)

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a game with complex ergonomics. Some don’t know how to avoid attacks after 30 hours of play, others don’t know that cutscenes can be skipped most of the time. If you are in this case, this article which should help you.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a great video game. It’s also a story, told by the characters, the side quests and the cutscenes that narrate the progress of the hero in his adventure. Obviously, in order not to miss anything, we advise you to watch them. On the other hand, it can be painful to fade a cutscene several times, sometimes long, especially when Nintendo’s masterpiece has decided not to leave us alive. And it happens more times than you would like!

The general rule for skipping a cutscene in Zelda: ToTK is simple: look at the button on the screen that is indicated to you to skip it. This is often the X button. It works for ejections from towers or end-of-shrine rewards. But there are obviously a few quirks you might not notice in-game.

Skip the Blood Moon or Boss cutscene

Cutscenes related to the bosses of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have the particularity of advancing the story. It therefore seems obvious that you want to watch them and Nintendo probably wants you to watch them since it is not possible to skip them the first time you encounter them. The first step to skip a cutscene is to watch it in its entirety for the first time. It’s the same thing for the Blood Moon: this cutscene can be a pain for players who see it a lot of times. The following tutorial also allows you to skip it.

Trigger Feature

During all the optional cutscenes or dialogues, the button that allows you to skip them is very visibly displayed on the screen. For the cutscenes of the bosses, you will not have a clue and you may think that you have to watch the cutscene, sometimes long, every time you die.

This is obviously not the case, but we must press X on your Nintendo Switch controller in the first place after the cutscene is triggered.

Use function to skip cutscene

It is only after having pressed X you will see the information on your screen. At the bottom right you will find that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers you to press +. This is the action that will take you to the start of the boss fight, without having to repeat all the crap. Some are so tough that you’ll need a lot of tries to take them down: you might as well optimize the time spent.
