Zelda TOTK is over! Huge disappointment for the fans

We finally know if Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will offer a DLC like its predecessor. Will the fans be over the moon? Well, not really.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of this year’s most popular games and one of the Nintendo Switch’s biggest hits. It therefore seems logical that Big N continues to ride the wave of success, in particular by offering a DLC. After all, Breath of the Wild had been entitled to it, so why not its eldest which is already proving more popular? In any case, the official site of the game hinted at the arrival of extensions in the future. We have the end of the story, but it’s probably not what many people wanted to hear.

This information was brought to us by our colleagues at Famitsu. They had the opportunity to interview Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the director of this new Zelda, and Eiji Aonuma, producer. And the question that burned the lips of the fans was whether there was going to be additional content. The game producer has answered questions from the community: there will be no DLC for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. The decision seems final, but it was not taken without reason.

We don’t plan to release any additional content this time around, because we feel like we’ve done everything we can with the world of this game and how to play it.

Given the delirious success of Zelda TOTK, we understand what he is trying to explain. If you are disappointed by his words, know that he does not rule out the possibility of returning players to the Kingdom of Hyrule. But for that, the studio will have to find new ideas rich enough and inspired to have the desire to create a new game. In any case, we must obviously forget the existence of a DLC, despite what the official site of the game suggested.

We’re so grateful that so many players have been playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom for so long and so invested, so we’ll do our best to make the next title even more enjoyable.

Tears of the Kingdom on top of the world

Anyway, such a decision will not prevent Zelda Tears of the Kingdom from exploding all records. As a reminder, Nintendo recently unveiled the balance sheet for the first quarter of its 2023-2024 fiscal year. We then noted that, at the end of June, the game had sold 18.5 million copies in the world. This represents the best start for a title in the franchise. These figures also allowed this new opus to climb into the top 50 best-selling video games in Japanese history.
