Zero respect – young people provoke police action in court

Desert scenes in the Salzburg regional court on Thursday afternoon: Aggressive young people scream and mob around in the aisle in the course of a trial against a youth gang. At around 3 p.m., the police had to step in and arrest two of the troublemakers.

Twelve robberies, 13 bodily injuries and ten thefts are said to be attributable to a gang of eight youths between the ages of 14 and 17 – including three Austrians, two Afghans and one each from Syria, Albania and Romania. At the beginning of the trial on Tuesday, the prosecutor only spoke of the “tip of the iceberg”. This can also be seen in the courtroom: half a dozen police officers in protective gear observed what was happening from the visitor benches – also to prevent giggling friends of the accused from taking pictures. According to the judge, such process recordings have recently appeared on social media. A lack of respect for authorities was also observed in the courtroom. Two youths arrested But on Thursday, two of those involved knocked the bottom out of the barrel. At around 3 p.m., a 15-year-old suspect and a 16-year-old witness behaved so aggressively while waiting in the aisle that the police had to intervene. The surrounding friends and acquaintances also behaved in a way that was not presentable towards the officers. The boys were arrested because they did not stop their behavior despite being expelled and warned. Shortly thereafter, those arrested were released from police custody. He was charged with aggressive behavior and making noise.
