ZEvent 2022: The source association of the refusal of some big streamers? They finally speak!

From a simple LAN in a garage to a major event bringing together millions of euros, the ZEvent has become the annual French event not to be missed on Twitch. And like any popular occasion of its kind, the latest edition has been making a lot of noise since its announcement earlier this week. Hateful tweets, accusation of racism or even absent streamers: the web is agitated but it is above all the choice of the association, GoodPlanet, which is currently being questioned.

ZEvent 2022: Why is the chosen association causing debate?

NFT, EDF, Total Energies… The large ecological association Good Planet is today faced with its choice of partnership and financing. Since the announcement of the ZEvent, a few days ago, many Internet users on Twitter have not failed to find out about this association founded by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and, the least we can say is that the information found was not to everyone’s taste. Financed by BNP Paribas and partner of Garnier, EDF and TotalEnergies, things do not seem to be going well for Internet users. According to several tweets, “funding an “ecological” association which promotes one of the most polluting industries” is not really connected with the very principle of the said association.

Thus, on the hashtag #Zevent on Twitter, you will find many threads expressing the dismay of future donors but also that of some content creators participating (or not) in the event. A #goodplanetgate hashtag was also launched and a gdoc whole prepared in order to show why the association is not a good choice.

The list of participants begins to shrink little by little

ZEvent 2022: Arkunir, Maghla, Trinity… They express themselves

Among all ZeratoR’s guests at ZEvent 2022, some streamers had already refused to participate even before the name of the association was revealed. Indeed, creators like Attic Player simply had something else planned and they are seen in the obligation to dismiss the invitation. Others, such as Kameto, Squeezie, Michou or even Inoxtag have already expressed their non-participation. But what interests us more particularly today is understand why some streamers, accustomed to ZEvent, have been withdrawing since the announcement. As you will have understood, the association chosen this year does not appeal to a large number of Internet users, but this also concerns creators who then took advantage of a few minutes of live or a tweet to express their disagreement.

Arkunir

He is one of the first to withdraw from ZEvent 2022 by leaving a message on Twitter. He explains that he too learned about Good Planet’s involvement along with everyone else a few days ago. A choice that does not suit him, especially after the information unearthed about the association.

maghla

Not being on the list of participants, Maghla has already clarified the situation on Twitter by explaining that she had refused to participate knowing the association beforehand. She will speak more in depth about this this evening at 6 p.m. on her Twitch channel.

Trinity

In a stream, this July 8, Trinity explained that she would not give her verdict until the answers to questions from ZeratoR and Dach to the association obtained, this weekend. She has blind faith in these two organizers and prefers not to make a decision on the spot but rather to wait a bit to see how the situation develops and leave a right of reply to the association.

ZEvent 2022: ZeratoR confronts the association to explain itself

Well aware of the “shitstorm” currently underway on Twitter, ZeratoR has expressed himself several times on the social network. First to show his disgust at the outpourings of hatred from Internet users judging the ZEvent 2022 “racist” because of the absence of certain big names, but then to explain that he understood perfectly why people were digging into GoodPlanet’s past. . With such large sums of donations (more than 10 million euros collected in 2021, we remind you), it is quite normal for viewers to wonder and ask the right questions.

Thus, for the first time since the history of ZEvent, ZeratoR will arrange an interview of the association in order to confront them on all these legitimate questions. Faced with the urgency of the situation, the questions (even the most virulent) were sent to the association, which must respond before Sunday. If GoodPlanet’s answers are not convincing enough, one can wonder if a change of association will be made. More answers before the end of the weekend!
