Coupez takes us on a zombie movie set in a disused building. Between jaded technicians and actors not really concerned, only the director seems invested with the necessary energy to give life to yet another low-budget horror film.
The irruption of authentic undead will disrupt the filming. Michel Hazanavicius had long wanted to direct a comedy set on a film set:
“Since I have been working, I have had the opportunity to observe a lot of funny behavior and experience a lot of filming scenes, sometimes surprising, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes touching.
I really like this basic material, a film set, which is a kind of somewhat exacerbated micro-society where the characters are often revealed in a spectacular way”. explains the filmmaker.
Coupez is a tribute to do-it-yourself films that have little means but also to film crews as a whole.
It is “a tribute to the people who make films, the actors, the directors, but also the technicians, the trainees, everyone. A tribute to the cinema in the making, to the profession of cinema, on a daily basis”according to Michel Hazanavicius.
