Zookeeper loses finger while bothering caged lion

Uno horror scene. Visitors to a Jamaican zoo witnessed the unthinkable recently. A guard, who was in front of a lion’s cage, had his finger ripped off by the animal, reports The Sun. Families were watching him gesticulate in front of the lion’s cage when he began to run his fingers through the grating, and went so far as to put his hand between the lion’s teeth. Visibly annoyed by the sight, the beast, which kept growling, ended up biting the man and tearing off a finger.

The caretaker, described as a contractor by zoo officials, tried to free himself by pulling his arm and pressing his foot against the grid. But he only managed to free himself after losing his finger in the lion’s mouth.

“I ran away”

A witness reported what he saw: “All the skin and the first joint of his finger was gone. I ran away because I hate the sight of blood. »

Several spectators filmed the scene and shared it massively on social networks. The zoo’s management spoke to Jamaica News and explained that these “actions did not respect the safety procedures” applied by all zookeepers or other zoo employees.

Despite the keeper’s recklessness, zoo officials intend to help him recover. They also wanted to do prevention with their visitors. They also hope that they can recover from these shocking events and come back to visit them soon.
