The election of a new headmaster in the Falletsche secondary school in the city of Zurich caused a lot of discussion. The reason: The newly elected headmaster Roberto Rodriguez currently serves as president of the school authority for the SP – and this is responsible for the election of the headmaster.
The fact that the committee has elected its current president as the new headmaster causes Vetterliwirtschaft allegations. Especially in politics the outcry is great, reports the “Tages-Anzeiger”. The president of the urban Green Party, Felix Moser, says the school authorities had no choice but to choose their boss. Other politicians speak of “nepotism” and “self-favoring”.
Leutenegger is also surprised
The parents are also shocked to the newspaper about the election. The school had already attracted attention earlier because it had not tackled problems. The canton recommended an interim evaluation due to quality problems. The school authorities never did this.
The distrust of Rodriguez is therefore great. According to the “Tages-Anzeiger”, several parents should prepare a complaint against the election. There has been a brothel at school for a long time. In recent years, several school principals have given each other a hand, many teachers have been fired – or they have left themselves.
The head of the school department, Filippo Leutenegger (68), is also surprised. He was surprised that Rodriguez could be elected headmaster during his tenure as school president, says Leutenegger. The city council knows the situation at the Falletsche school house very well because last year it tried to settle the messed up situation itself with various teachers who left the school.
Generous severance payment
But it’s not just the choice that causes excitement. Because he has to give up his well-paid job as school president, Rodriguez receives a generous severance payment, as reported by the “Tages-Anzeiger”. The old school president and the new headmistress pocketed around 650,000 francs – because in the new job he earned around 70,000 francs less than before as a school principal (186,000 francs).
According to the city ordinance, he is entitled to the money – Rodriguez has 3.5 annual wages. The city council has already approved the severance payment.
“Who came up with it?” Complains the Zurich FDP city councilor Beat Habegger on Twitter. «Extremely urgent need for action for the Zurich municipal council. This self-service must end. ” (zis)
