The end of summer also has something good – the plums reach their peak of ripeness. We conjure up a juicy-sweet granita out of them.

When summer draws to a close, some people get a little melancholy. The sun packs its bags, takes the lightness with it and leaves us standing in the rain, which washes the sand from our still warm skin. Now don’t despair: Even if the summer weather quickly leaves the field, we still have enough time to harvest its fruits. More precisely plums.

The small fruits are a symbol of the transition of the seasons and are usually made into cakes and jams that accompany us through the winter. But now we want to maintain a little summer feeling and celebrate its end with a fine granita.

Granita, one or the other might already know them from their vacation in Italy. It comes as a mix between drink and ice cream and is probably the upscale version of today’s “slush”. But we don’t need syrup or coloring for our recipe, because our plums bring enough juice and rich coloring with them on their own.

In fact, our classic recipe only contains three ingredients, because we use nature to the full. The focus of our plum granita is the fruit. We help your intense taste with a little sweetness. And so that the anticipation for autumn is not neglected, a winter ingredient can sneak into the glass: cinnamon provides a culinary surprise and goes perfectly with plums. Get an appetite? Well, then turn to the mixer.
