Be careful when opening the 22e box of our Advent calendar: it contains a Black Hole that could suck you in, as well as your friends and family! This is what happened to us when we tested this hilarious general knowledge game…

Until December 24, Clubic opens a sound box every day Advent calendar 2023 : the opportunity to discover unusual or practical gadgets, gift ideas for yourself and your loved ones.

Concocted by ATM Gaming, a French company despite what its name suggests, Trou Noir is based on a slightly twisted plot.

A party that goes wrong. Very bad.

As a renowned scientist, you participate in a mission to study the black hole in Galaxy M99 aboard the International Space Station (ISS). On board, a party is in full swing to properly welcome the new crew members newly arrived on board when an asteroid hits the ISS.

The life module is destroyed and you find yourself thrown into space. Bad luck, the black hole that you had to study inexorably sucks you in. Little by little, its force of attraction reduces your mind to nothing while questions race through your head… In short, your IQ takes a big hit and tends towards absolute zero.

To try to escape, there is only one solution: correctly answer the questions you are asked and try to send one of the survivors into the black hole in your place.

To help you, weapons present on the ISS at the time of the tragedy gravitate around you. Try to catch them to save your skin and not sink into the black hole. We warned you: the plot is delicious…

Board game

Concretely, the game is presented in the form of a board representing an IQ scale graduated from 200 to 0, 600 cards and 8 pawns. Each player places his pawn on 200, the highest level of IQ. The first player draws a card and asks the question on it to his neighbor on the left.

If he answers correctly, his IQ remains intact. If he makes a mistake, he is penalized by the number of points indicated on the card. The game continues until one of the players reaches 0 IQ, the winner being the one with the highest IQ.

To raise the mood, certain levels of the ladder are accompanied by strategic weapons (those that were in the ISS, remember?) When arriving at one of them, the player chooses to use it – or not – before being asked a question. Some can cause him to lose or gain points, others target another player…

There are six categories of cards: double questions, give me 5, Russian roulette, it’s + or -, info/intoxication and nightmare. What they have in common is that they fuel your brain and make you laugh. The game is also based on a rather nice and sometimes schoolboy humor.

Instead of simply numbering the IQ scale, its designers added an explicit qualifier. For example, an IQ of 200 is called “light on all levels” or “Homer S.” when it is 90. The bottom of the scale is rather frightening: IQ of 20 = plankton; IQ of 10 = reality TV star…

The questions cover the entire scope of general culture (cinema, literature, pop culture, sports, etc.). Some talk to the teens and leave the older ones in the lurch (“What city is SpongeBob SquarePants set in?”), while others allow them to catch up (“How many heads does the dog Cerberus have ?”) Enough to allow everyone to have a good time!
