Did you know ? Daughter of producer Raymond Danon and goddaughter of Alain Delon, Géraldine Danon planned, in the early 2010s, to produce a biopic recounting the last ten years of Romy Schneider’s life (in particular the filming of La Passante du Sans-Souci, project worn by the actress and started in October 1981 shortly after the tragic death of her son).

In the end, things didn’t happen. However, with Flo, she delivers a biopic centered on Florence Arthaud.

The Boy and the Heron by Hayao Miyazaki

What is it about ? After the disappearance of his mother in a fire, Mahito, a young boy of 11, must leave Tokyo to live in the countryside in the village where she grew up. He settles with his father in an old manor located on a huge estate where he meets a gray heron who little by little becomes his guide…

Did you know ? The Boy and the Heron is inspired by the novel And you, how will you live? by Genzaburo Yoshino, dating from 1937, a book once given to Hayao Miyazaki by his mother. A scene from the film shows the young hero discovering this book with a note from his mother which says “To raise Mahito”.

The work tells a coming-of-age story about a young boy’s emotional and philosophical development after the death of his father.

What is it about ? The future of Marguerite, a brilliant student in Mathematics at the ENS, seems clear. The only girl in her class, she is finishing a thesis which she must present in front of an audience of researchers. On the big day, an error shakes up all his certainties and the building collapses. Marguerite decides to leave everything to start again.

Did you know ? When she was in her twenties, Anna Novion fell ill and had to remain cloistered for six months: “After my recovery, I felt a disconnect with people my age, I was no longer in their carefree mood.” It is this gap to the world and to others that she sought to tell with Le Théorème de Marguerite:

“I thought about the major schools, where the students are sometimes outside the world, focused on their studies and very quickly the mathematics environment seemed obvious to me.”

On the cardinal’s orders, they came to take Edgardo, their seven-year-old son. The child would have been baptized in secret by his nurse as a baby and the pontifical law is indisputable: he must receive a Catholic education.

Did you know ? In 2016, Steven Spielberg planned to bring the Mortara affair to the screen, with Mark Rylance in front of the camera. The director was to collaborate with Weinstein but the two men disagreed on several points and the producer decided to develop another adaptation of the affair, with Robert De Niro.

These two projects will never see the light of day.

Did you know ? The character of Paul is the result of extensive research work that Karine Blanc and Michel Tavares did on mayors of rural towns. The filmmakers met some of them, and also watched numerous documentaries and read quite a few testimonies.

Did you know ? Completely burned! is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, published in 2012. Its author, Gilles Legardinier, also director of the film, explains that the feature film is not a transposition of the book: “My film does not aim to scrupulously illustrate my words, but I hope that it brings viewers to the same mental and emotional state as my readers.”
