What is the Culture Pass?
The KulturPass is a federal government initiative that aims to enable young people to discover the cultural diversity in Germany. The credit received can be used for various leisure activities and to purchase music, books or musical instruments. Last year, people born in 2005 received a budget of 200 euros, this year it is still 100 euros. The reduction in the amount is justified by the difficult budget situation.
If you don’t turn 18 this year, let your friends and acquaintances know who might be eligible. The offer is expected to expire from December 31st, at least for the 2006 vintage. Here are some examples of how you can use the gift:
- Tickets for concerts
- Tickets for theater performances
- Tickets for cinema visits
- Entrance tickets for museum visits
- Park entrance tickets

- Sound recordings
- Grades

How to register?
From March 1st, eligible people can register using the KulturPass app via Android and the App Store. All young people living in Germany who will turn 18 in 2024 are eligible. Anyone who will come of age later this year can register on his or her birthday. Once you have downloaded the app, your age and identity will be verified using the online ID process. To do this you need one of the following documents:
- Identity card with online ID function (for German citizens)
- eID card (for EU citizens)
- Electronic residence permit (for non-EU citizens residing in Germany)
Following this procedure, you will be granted credit of 100 euros. This can be redeemed at companies that have registered on the platform in advance. A desired offer can be reserved via the app and then picked up or redeemed on site.
How can you register as a company?
If you run a cultural event, you can easily register with the platform with an ELSTER organization certificate. The costs for the services offered will be reimbursed subsequently.
