11-bit Studios will donate proceeds from This War of Mine to the Ukrainian Red Cross

Despite a wealth of news about video games, it is difficult to miss what is currently happening in Ukraine following the Russian attack on the country. In support, the Polish studio 11 bit studios offers to help the victims financially by donating the profits of one of its games to the Red Cross.

A symbolic game of the ravages of war

The Polish studio 11 bits Studios (whose country is also a neighbor of Ukraine) announces its support for the victims of the conflict by donating all profits from the sales of This War of Mine to the Ukrainian Red Cross for the next seven days. This concerns games and DLCs regardless of the platform.

It should be noted that GOG.com subsequently encouraged the action of 11 bits Studio by also donating their share of the winnings:

“Following the decision of 11 bit studios to donate all profits from the sales of This War Of Mine and all its DLC, we have decided to support their action. During the next week, until March 3 at 19:00 UTC, we will also donate all profits from our sales shares to the Ukrainian Red Cross”.

As the message from the developers reminds us, the game is indeed an illustration of the suffering of a people in times of war since it takes place during a fictional conflict inspired by the siege of Sarajevo. The title focuses on the perspective of civilians and what they may experience during these troubled times. 11 bits Studios concludes its message as follows:

“Let this message resonate with everything you know about this war and how war kills people, devastates their lives and their homes. Let’s do together, players and developers, all we can to support the victims of the war in Ukraine”.

We should also note that yesterday, the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, which is currently developing STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, also called for financial support of the Ukrainian forces.

Of course, beyond our medium, our thoughts go out to the entire Ukrainian people.
