In Pas-de-Calais, a 14-month-old girl fell two meters because of a hole in a playground net.
A 14-month-old baby girl fell from a slide from a height of two meters in the Sunset Kids indoor playground located in Berck-Sur-Mer. The baby fell through a holey safety net. She fell in “a space that is not open to the public and therefore not protected, like the rest of the games, by shock-absorbing mats on the floor” specify our colleagues from La Voix du Nord. The parents of the little girl have decided to file a complaint to understand the circumstances of the tragedy. The management of the playground said to themselves “very sad about the accident” and confessed that a “little hole we hadn’t seen” does exist, report our colleagues. She nevertheless explains that the space where the little girl was was only accessible from the age of 4, specifying: “the rules of procedure displayed at the entrance stipulate that children are placed under the sole responsibility of their parents”
After her fall, the little girl was sent to CHAM and then transferred to Amiens University Hospital. She is out of danger but still has many after-effects. She has a double fracture of the arm and a fracture of the occipital bone which is located in the skull. The mother spoke to La Voix du Nord: “She is still hospitalized, under medical supervision. She vomited, remains agitated but the medical prognosis is reassuring, even if her injuries are serious. Luckily the scan did not show any bleeding in the skull.”

The 14-month-old was at the playground with her dad, mom and brother. The mother recounted how it all happened: “My son was playing there, but he’s too small to take the buoy all the way up. My husband therefore had his little sister in his arms and pulled the buoy to the platform. The time to install the big one inside, he put the little one. It happened very quickly.”
