15 billion more on Livret A in 2021, News / News Savings

The month of December is never a time when you fill out your Livret A and this was confirmed last month with a significant outflow of 1.7 billion euros according to figures from Caisse des Dépôts. This is the third consecutive negative month for the outstanding amount of Livret A which nevertheless ended the year 2021 at 343.4 billion euros after a record of 346.3 billion at the end of September.

The funds held by the French on a Livret A will have increased by a little more than 15 billion euros in 2021. As for the Livret de Développement durable (LDDS), its outstanding amount increased by 4 billion last year, i.e. a total of 19.2 billion more for these two booklets remunerated at 0.5%. For the Livret A, this is the third best collection of the last ten years, underlines the Cercle de l’Epargne.

Back to more traditional savings behaviors

In 2021, Livret A returned to its traditional seasonality with a first half marked by high deposits and a second half conducive to outflows. From the middle of the year, a return to normal for precautionary savings seems to be taking shape. Despite everything, the amount of Livret A savings accounts has risen sharply since the start of the health crisis, rising from 303.9 to 343.4 billion euros, i.e. a gain of nearly 40 billion euros. », Analyzes the Director of the Cercle de l’Epargne, Philippe Crevel.

The holders of the Livret A, four out of five French people, have only marginally drawn on their “covid” savings. They remain, faced with the economic and financial context, very cautious and wait-and-see. If they wanted to have fun at the end of the year, they did so in moderation adds Philippe Crevel.

Rate increase to 1%

It now seems very likely that the collection of the Livret A will start to rise again from February thanks to the increase in the rate of remuneration from 0.5% to 1% from February 1st. An increase which concerns the LDDS identically.

to know
