A production vehicle from Iveco has set a Guinness World Record. The electric van took 153 tons on the hook.
Purely electrically powered vans are still rarely found on European roads. But they are becoming more and more often used as the basis for e-mobile homes.
Word has probably already got around that the locally emission-free vans are in no way inferior to their diesel counterparts in terms of power. To underline this, Iveco dared to attempt a world record.

The Iveco eDaily, which is also available in Germany, looks very similar to its diesel sister model and has a range of 400 kilometers in inner-city traffic (manufacturer information). Its permissible total weight is 7.2 tons, the trailer load is specified as 3.5 tons. But there is still more, much more, as the successful world record attempt at a cordoned-off airport site in Great Britain suggests.
For this test, the eDaily hooked up a complete articulated lorry. The trailer truck had loaded a large excavator. And to further increase the level of difficulty and the weight, another truck and a large fire engine from the airport were added. The weight added up to an impressive 153 tons, which now had to be pulled.
After slight initial difficulties, the eDaily finally succeeded in getting this unusual entourage rolling and towing it away. The previous record was 130 tons, so it was beaten by a whopping 23 tons. You can see how quickly and well this worked in the video attached above.
