It’s hard to come across Batman anywhere other than Gotham in the middle of the night. However, his iconic car was spotted in broad daylight in the southwest of France, all in a city probably much less hectic than Gotham. Is Bruce Wayne looking for a vacation home?

The Batmobile seen in France

He is the night, he is revenge, he is justice… but he is also sometimes on vacation. In any case, this is the conclusion that some French people could draw after seeing the Batmobile roaming the roads of France. Last Sunday, On April 29, 2024, Batman’s iconic car was indeed spotted in a small town of 714 inhabitants called Saint-Antoine-de-Ficalba. Located halfway between Montauban and Bordeaux, just a little further north of Agen, the inhabitants of this commune in Lot-et-Garonne had certainly never imagined being able to see Batman’s car with their own eyes, and yet , they were able to do it just a few days ago.

At the crossroads between the Route Paris Barges (which crosses the town) and the Chemin des Cavaliers is an atypical restaurant called Gas Station. Taking the aesthetic of a gas station while mixing it all with a very American atmosphere, this emblematic place of the small town was able to accommodate the Batmobile driven by Batman in the eponymous film by Tim Burton released in 1989. But then, what was she doing there? Would Bruce Wayne be looking to invest in a small holiday home in the southwest of France? Rest assured, Gotham’s vigilante has not left his city.

Was Bruce Wayne visiting southwest France?

Unless you live in Gotham, Batman’s true identity should be no secret to you. If it is difficult to imagine the nocturnal vigilante moving away from his hometown, it is less impossible to think that Bruce Wayne could take some time to visit the southwest of France. However, at the risk of disappointing the most passionate fans, it was not the most famous billionaire from DC Comics who was behind the wheel of the Batmobile seen in Saint-Antoine-de-Ficalba. In fact, it was actually a question of Franck Galiègue, a lover of beautiful cars which he collects. Active on social networks and in particular on Instagram (where he has 125,000 subscribers), Galiègue was in fact returning from his trip to another commune: that of Saint-Gaudens.

Indeed, On the weekend of April 26 and 27, 2024, the town of Saint-Gaudens (Haute-Garonne) organized a festival called D-Day. Designed to be a real “landing” of motorized vehicles of all kinds (cars, motorcycles and tractors), this festival allows the city to swap its usual tranquility for the noise of engines for a few days. This year, the theme revolved around comic book hero carsand Franck Galiègue took the opportunity to come and exhibit himself behind the wheel of his sublime 1989 Batmobile. The opportunity to please children and adults, and to meet up with comic book fans who have decided to take their passion to the next level. This year, the Saint-Gaudens D-Day festival still brought together nearly 800 vehicles over the entire weekend.
