As the weather experts from Ubimet and UWZ reported on Friday afternoon, there was actually an all-time heat record on this New Year’s Eve in Austria: In Berndorf in the Lower Austrian district of Baden, the thermometer showed a whopping 18.3 degrees Celsius – the highest value since the start of recording.

Just behind followed – also in Lower Austria – Reichenau an der Rax with 18 degrees and Wiener Neustadt with 17.8 degrees. In Mörbisch (Burgenland) 17.6 degrees were measured and in Krems an der Donau (Lower Austria) 17.3 degrees.
