18 people saved – CO2 accident in Vienna: Bub (12) is in a coma

Sunday evening there was a serious CO2 accident in a multi-party building in Vienna-Favoriten. A total of 18 people had to be rescued from the building. A 12-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. It is currently in an artificial deep sleep.

Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the emergency services. In addition to the 18 people, a large contingent was also able to free the 12-year-old and his family from the building and take him to the hospital. Suspected poisoning was the 30-year-old father, the 27-year-old mother, and two girls aged four weeks and one year and the twelve-year-old boy. All showed signs of poisoning. The boy is in a critical condition. According to emergency services, a defective gas combi boiler is said to be responsible for the dangerous CO2 leak. The fire brigade found a high CO2 concentration. The entire building was immediately ventilated.
