18th state championship title – Rehman played a final like back then

Salzburg’s Aqeel Rehman won the Austrian Squash Championships again. In the final he met an old friend from Hallein.

Unsurprisingly, squasher Aqeel Rehman was crowned winner at the Austrian Championships. For the 38-year-old, it was the 18th title in a row. He has won every year since he was 21. “It was better training,” says Rehman. Curious: In yesterday’s final, like in 2007, he met Jakob Dirnberger from Hallein. On Sunday, Rehman had the better end with a 3-0 win, just like back then. “That’s a nice story,” smiled the Salzburg native. In the coming days he will prepare for his first PSA tournament in 2024. He wants to collect valuable points in Ipswich (Eng).
