  • FC Aarau started the new Challenge League season with a narrow 1-0 win over cantonal rivals Baden.
  • FC Thun does not cover itself with glory. The Bernese Oberland cannot go beyond a draw against promoted Stade Nyonnais.
  • Neuchâtel Xamax temporarily tops the table thanks to a 3-0 win against Schaffhausen.

It was a perfect start to the new season in the Challenge League for FC Aarau with their new coach Alex Frei. Valon Fazliu made it 1-0 in the 8th minute after a rehearsed corner variation. As a result, the events flattened out, in the end it remained with this single goal. The 7,500 spectators in the Brügglifeld were able to look forward to a successful start to the season.

Thun only with a draw

FC Thun started the new season with a damper. The Bernese Oberland had to settle for a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Stade Nyonnais. Coach Mauro Lustrinelli’s side only equalized in the 89th minute through Valmir Matoshi. The guests took the lead in the first half through Elias Pasche. Before the equalizer, Thun striker Ihsan Sacko failed from the penalty point. A yellow-red card against Jules Sylvestre-Brac meant that Stade Nyonnais played with ten men after the penalty.

Meanwhile, Neuchâtel Xamax was doing better. Neuchâtel, who only avoided direct relegation last season thanks to the increase in the Super League, beat Schaffhausen 3-0. Franck Surdez shone with a double for the Romands.
