Knitting clothes and accessories in winter, often made with wool, allows you to wear warm and personalized creations to protect themselves from the cold. In addition to their functional aspect, knitting pieces such as hats or cuffs is often considered a relaxing and satisfying hobby, allowing you to develop manual skills and create unique objects for winter.
The easy hat

Material :
- 1 ball of bamboo and wool yarn from Anna and Clara at Sostrene Grene (50 g/125 m)
- Double pointed needles n°5
Realization :
Cast on 72 stitches (m) on a double pointed needle. Knit in the round with 3 or 4 double-pointed needles and make ribbing by alternating 2 knit stitches (K) and 2 purl stitches (P) until the hat measures approximately 31 cm high. Make decreases to form the top of the hat:
1st round: *2 stitches together (2 sts tog), purl 2 sts*. Repeat between * and * until the end of the tr.
2nd round: *K1, purl 2 together (approx. 2 tog)*. Repeat until end of tr.
3rd and 4th rounds: *2 sts tog*. Repeat on both rounds. Cut the thread leaving a length of approximately 20 cm for assembly.
Pass the yarn through the remaining stitches as if to knit them. Stop and tuck in the wires.
Cuffs decorated with lace

Point used: 2/2 rib (knit 2, purl 2 across the entire row and knit the stitches as they appear on the next row)
Material (for two cuffs):
- A ball of Glitter knitting yarn color 03 Prima Mercerie.
- A pair of 3.5 needles
- 70 cm of lace ribbon (Prima Mercerie)
- A knitting assembly needle
- Thread (coordinated shade)
- A sewing needle
Realization :
Climb 38 m. Knit 10 cm in 2/2 rib. Fold very loosely. Fold right sides together heightwise and sew with a strand of wool and the assembly needle. You get a hit. Cut 34 cm of lace ribbon. Gather it by passing, 1 cm from the edge, the sewing thread in wide stitches. Tighten the lace on this thread to obtain a length of 18 cm. Tie the thread at both ends so that the lace remains gathered. Sew the lace onto the knitted cuff 1 cm from the edge, on the side of the cast-on stitches.
How to knit in the round and what is this technique used for?
This is the ideal technique for hats, neck warmers, socks and even
sweaters. Two solutions are available to you: double-pointed needles (sold in sets of 4 or 5) are placed in the round by 3 or 4, while another needle is used to knit; circular needleswhich have the advantage of distributing the weight of the work on the cable, are less heavy, more manageable, but they are not always suitable for knitwear of smaller diameters.
How to choose the right thread?
In winter, choose warm wools, such as alpaca, which is very soft, or mohair with a fluffy effect. Merino is finer and very easy to knit.
