200 million euros – jubilation at Swarovski Optik over record sales

Apparently, the demand for binoculars, telescopes and riflescopes has risen sharply. At Swarovski Optik, headquartered in Absam, record sales are emerging this year. For the first time in more than 70 years of company history, the 200 million euro mark was cracked on December 8th.

In total, the management expects a hefty increase in sales of 27 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year. Demand was strongest in the field of observation optics. Of course, one can only speculate whether this is possibly related to the lockdowns. Sales figures for binoculars and telescopes rose by an impressive 45 percent this year. The Tyrolean company was able to achieve a significant increase in sales in all target groups from January to October compared to the same period of the previous year. Success through global trendIn the bird watching sector, it was a full 68 percent “Outdoor & Wildlife Watching” around 34 percent, in the area of hunting 30 percent. The success at Swarovski Optik is attributed to a global trend, as CEO Carina Schiestl-Swarovski says: “We benefit from rediscovering nature as a place of power and relaxation.” Only next year will show how high the increase in sales will ultimately be. Maybe the Christ Child will buy some binoculars too.
