“Access to your personal tax situation is temporarily unavailable”. Bad weather for the government tax site this Friday. While the campaign for the 2021 tax return started on Thursday, a computer bug prompted the tax administration to temporarily suspend online access to the return this Friday.
The tax authorities have indeed observed pre-filling errors. It would seem that these irregularities, reported by taxpayers, concern the pre-filled income of teachers, the amounts of which would have been overstated.
No impact on the amount of tax
“Access to the online declaration is temporarily suspended from today, the time to carry out the necessary investigations”explains a spokesperson for the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP). “Expertise is underway by our services”, adds the DGFiP. In any case, these pre-filling differences will have no impact on the amount of tax.
Similarly, the withholding tax applied to the taxpayers concerned is not affected in any way. “If you have validated a declaration containing a pre-filling error, it will be possible to correct it later and all the information will be given to you as soon as the site reopens”, explains the administration. The site will be blocked “at least for the weekend”.
The calendar of the campaign is nevertheless maintained. Households that cannot report online and are still filing a paper report will have until midnight May 19 to return it. For the others, those who declare their income online, the deadline runs from May 24 to June 8, depending on their department of residence.
