fun, news, tips… what else?

The royal family has been the subject of many series and films over the decades. Here are 3 addictive series that talk about the Crown, to devour without moderation.

Notice to those who wriggle seeing the slightest photo of Kate Middleton and Prince William, and who are convinced that Archie will one day be the BFF of their offspring. If it is unlikely that you will one day be part of the royal family, even extended, there is fortunately plenty to have fun, royally, on Netflix. Besides the historical series in period costumes that we love, like Outlander, The Bridgerton Chronicle, or even Sanditon, some shows deal directly with royalty.

If you’re a fan of the British Royal Family and you take your Earl Gray every morning in a mug bearing the image of Elizabeth II, here are 3 series to devour to get your dose of “your majesty”.

The Crown: the historical-romantic series

Latest news

The The Crown series is a Netflix staple. The award-winning series follows the fate of the royal family, the real ones, the ones we know and love, since the anticipated coronation of Elizabeth II. Over the seasons, we have been able to follow the political shenanigans, the founding moments of the country, against the backdrop of the oh so complex and tumultuous relationships of Elizabeth, Philip, Charles, Diana, Margaret, Anne etc.

There are currently 4 seasons available on Netflix. The fifth and penultimate season of The Crown will see the arrival of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Di, and Dominic West as Prince Charles. In this highly anticipated season, the divorce of the couple Charles and Diana, as well as the death of Lady Di and its consequences on Princes Harry and William will be discussed.

The Royals: the soap-opera parody

Another essential series for anyone claiming to be a fan of crowned heads: The Royals. The series follows the explosive daily life of a totally fictional British royal family. The characters are all parodies: the adulterous queen played by Elizabeth Hurley, the party girl and cocaine addict, the seductive playboy son, the jealous brother of the manipulative king, etc. And in the background of this palette of endearing characters: predictable mysteries and twists which are linked. The Royals can be savored without complex, with a glass of wine rather than with a cup of tea.

The Tudors: the sulphurous royal series

Finally, impossible to talk about royal series without mentioning The Tudors. The series follows the chaotic reign and life of King Henry VIII through his conquests and marriages. We find Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in the skin of the king. He gives the reply to Natalie Dormer, alias Anne Boleyn, but also Henry Cavill, Joss Stone, Annabelle Wallis or Maria Doyle Kennedy (star of the Outlander series). We’re not going to lie to each other, one of the biggest assets of The Tudors are its memorable sex scenes.
