  • In the 24th round of the Bundesliga, Augsburg achieved a clear away win against bottom team Darmstadt.
  • Ruben Vargas was also among the scorers in the 6-0 win.
  • Leipzig scored three goals within four minutes in Bochum.

You could feel sorry for the Darmstadt team against Augsburg. In the opening half hour they conceded goal after goal. There were five of them until the 29th minute. Only Gladbach (2021 against Freiburg) and Braunschweig (1984 against Gladbach) had conceded five more quickly (in 25 minutes each).

One of these goals was scored by Ruben Vargas. The Nati player hit the top corner with his left-footed shot in the 24th minute to make it 4-0. It was Vargas’ second goal of the season after his goal on the very first day of the game. Former St. Gallen player Ermedin Demirovic scored twice, as did Phillip Tietz.

Leipzig’s goal-rich four minutes

RB Leipzig beat VfL Bochum 4-1 after being 1-0 down. It had been playing for a good hour – the score was 1:1 – then the guests suddenly turned up the heat. They scored three goals between the 68th and 72nd minutes. First substitute Lois Openda scored, then Ivan Ordets scored with an own goal and finally Xavi Simons scored the final result.

Despite this victory, Leipzig remains in 5th place. This is because Dortmund also prevailed at Union Berlin. Karim Adeyemi (41′) and Ian Maatsen (90′) scored in the 2-0 away win. With Silvan Widmer in defense, Mainz had to be content with a 1-1 draw against Mönchengladbach, coached by Gerardo Seoane. Frankfurt consolidated its 6th place with a hard-fought 2-1 in Heidenheim.

In the evening game, VfB Stuttgart celebrated a 3-2 win in Wolfsburg. The Swabians, for whom Serhou Guirassy scored goals 19 and 20 of the season in his 18th appearance, consolidated third place in the table and moved within four points of Bayern Munich.
