30 years of Sidaction: donations, objectives, headliners… Three questions about the event

30 years after the creation of Sidaction, personalities from the audiovisual world are mobilizing from March 22 to 24 to call on the French to donate for research against AIDS. There are several ways to contribute, whether by telephone, by mail or on the Internet. And this annual event, of which Europe 1 is a partner, culminates in an exceptional evening broadcast on France 2 on Saturday evening. Europe 1 details what awaits the French from Friday.

How to make a donation ?

The French can help researchers all year round through different means. First, by telephone, it is possible to dial 110 (freephone number) for free or to send the word “DONATION” by SMS to 92 110. This last case allows you to send a sum of 10 euros directly taken from the operator’s invoice (device only available in mainland France). In addition, owners of the Lydia application have the opportunity to send money to 22 0810 or by choosing the association from a drop-down list.

Donors can also go to the Sidaction website, at https://don.sidaction.org/, and choose the amount to send. Finally, for those attached to physical donation, it is also possible to send a letter to Sidaction at this address: 228, rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin, 75010 Paris.

Remember that whatever the amount of the donation, 66% of the amount will be tax deductible (up to 20% of taxable income). In 2023, the association had received nearly 4 million euros in pledges.

What are the objectives of Sidaction?

Although it is possible to give all year round, each year the association calls on numerous personalities to call on the French to mobilize, notably during a major televised evening on France 2 on Saturday evening. The objective of the event is to shine the spotlight on research, remind people of “the need not to stop the fight against the AIDS virus” as stated in the association’s official press release, and to raise funds.

Who are the headliners?

A figure in the fight against AIDS for more than 35 years, Line Renaud is the vice-president of Sidaction. The renowned actress of French cinema is once again accompanied by a multitude of personalities known to the French, since the association is a partner with 35 media. For Europe 1, Anissa Haddadi and Thomas Isle have been relaying the 2024 campaign since March 18 in advertising spots.

Laurence Ferrari, Nikos Aliagas and Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine are also among the headliners. And this year, it was the singer Mylène Farmer who lent her voice to the advertising campaign.
