Digitalization is also changing the newspaper industry – we need less and less time to consume media thanks to new technologies that make everything easier and more convenient. We concentrate less and less and switch back and forth on our smartphone in seconds because the change promises a brief moment of satisfaction. It’s good that our lives have become easier in many areas through digitalization, but on the one hand we as humans need commitment and on the other hand, when it comes to difficult topics, we expect transparency, careful research, and even a finger on the wound, so that we can find our way in the jungle of fake news, be able to distinguish facts from fake and be able to classify content. Shape the media industry of the future To find solutions for these and many other burning future issues in the media industry, the “Krone” is organizing the hackathon “The Crown – Your ideas for the “Crown of Tomorrow” together with the THI Techhouse from December 11th to 13th. At the hackathon -Premiere in Vienna, we invite students, schoolchildren and apprentices as well as young professionals from different fields of study and disciplines to work in teams within 48 hours to develop a creative and sustainable solution for the media industry of the future. As a participant, you will be supported by mentors and experts on site. Diverse program with the media professionals from “Krone” The hackathon program is designed to include a wide range of interesting content. There will be an interview with Clara Milena Steiner, head of the politics department at the Kronen Zeitung Kärnten. She gives insight into her work, her career as a young woman and also tips for young professionals. Jennifer Kapellari will give an insight into the development of the successful Krone TikTok channel in the impulse “How to do Krone” and explain the importance of social media for classic media today. Meanwhile, “Krone” managing director Gerhard Valeskini talks about the important Importance of traditional media in the fight against fake news and Hannes Mößlacher, editor-in-chief of the Kronen Zeitung Kärnten, is dedicated to the topic of journalistic content versus content generated by artificial intelligence. A hackathon is a unique opportunity to get together with different people and work on exciting ideas together to tinker. Supported by mentors and experts, the team develops a prototype, code, concept or business model for an innovative solution within a very short time (48 hours).
