British 25-year-old Amy MacFarlane faked giving birth so she could escape her ultra-abusive boyfriend, 30-year-old Jake Corry. He had “lined up instruments of torture” planning to perform a caesarean section himself, after chaining her to a radiator and hitting her with a hammer.
A pregnant woman was taken hostage by his companion, at their home in Failsworth, near Oldham, on the outskirts of Manchester. He hit her on the head with a hammer, strangled her and threatened to pull out her fingernails with pliers.
A horror scene suffered by Amy McFarlane, 27. She was 36 weeks pregnant when her then-boyfriend Jake Corry, 30, flew into a rage, accusing her of cheating on him. He put her through hell on January 29, 2022, starting by hitting her with a sword and stating: “This is just the beginning.”
He then hit her on the head with a hammer, strangled her and threatened to pull out her fingernails with pliers. He went so far as to threaten her to practice “a wild caesarean section”. At the time, he was out on bail for a previous assault on her. The hell only ended when the mother-to-be claimed her waters were breaking and begged her tormentor to set her free, saying: “The baby is coming!” According to the tabloid Mirrorthe victim took advantage of the fact that she had urinated on it out of fear to simulate the imminence of childbirth.
Once safe at thehospital, Amy confided in the medical staff. Corry attempted to flee but was later arrested in London. He appeared in a Manchester court last week and was sentenced to six years in prison.

The young woman, who has since given birth to a healthy child, told police: “I suffered flashbacks and nightmares all the time. It had a significant impact on my mental health…I remain terrified of him.”
During the trial, Amy said: “I pretended I was in labor and it was my only chance to escape. I really thought he was going to kill me. Luckily my baby and I are fine, and I want to talk to plead other women to walk away from violence before it’s too late.”
Amy and Corry met in April 2021. He was calm and caring, at first. But weeks after the start of their relationship, violence gradually took hold in the couple’s lives. I wanted him to trust me.” Three months later, she became pregnant.

Amy continued: “He would wake me up at 5 a.m. every day to clean the floors. If it didn’t suit him, he would hit me. He bit me, punched me, choked me. He even threatened to destroy the urn containing my mother’s ashes.”
