4.6 billion dollars: one of the most lucrative sagas of the last 13 years returns to the cinema!

Illumination studio has just revealed the first images of “Mooned”, a short film in which the Minions and the villain from the first film “Despicable Me” are stranded on the Moon.

The animated saga Despicable Me returns to the cinema! The short film Mooned – which will be released in theaters (for cinemas that wish it) from December 6 before Migration, the new film from Illumination studios – unveils a mini-teaser.

We find Vector Perkins, the main antagonist of the first Despicable Me film (2010), still stuck on the moon. The latter tries to find a way to return to Earth. He will be joined by the Minions, always ready to help a villain.

This short film could be a clue to the story of Despicable Me 4, scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2024. Vector and Gru could therefore face each other again.

With 4.6 billion dollars for 5 films (spin-offs devoted to Minions included), the franchise launched in 2010 by Illumination studios is the most lucrative animated film series in the world.

After the success of Super Mario Bros, the second highest-grossing animated film at the international box office behind Frozen 2, the studio created in 2007 by Chris Meledandri has become one of the heavyweights in the film industry.

Illumination is preparing to unveil its next film: Migrationa Franco-American feature film directed by Benjamin Renner, to whom we already owe the very good Ernest and Célestine, The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales and Guylo Homsy.

The film scheduled for release in theaters on December 6 follows the Colvert family. While the father is totally satisfied to wade peacefully and permanently with his family, in their little pond in New England, his wife would rather be the type to shake up this routine a little to show her children the rest of the world. When they welcome a family of migratory ducks during their stopover, it’s the perfect opportunity to imitate them!
