Have you just received the Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl Pokémon for the holiday season and this is the first time you’ve discovered the Fourth Generation and the Sinnoh region? Here are some mistakes you should avoid making at the start of your adventure if you later want to optimize the end-game.
Forgetting to replant your berries
This is probably one of the flagship activities of these remakes and yet, many players find it unnecessary to collect berries. Worse yet: they don’t want to waste time replanting them. It is understandable as it can be redundant when it is necessary to plant them and water them one by one. However, berries will come in handy during your adventure for several reasons:
- Outfits or used in combat, they allow you to heal health or status, but have many other useful effects,
- Berries are the very basis of making Poffins, an important feature in Sinnoh that will allow you to increase the statistics of your Pokémon. This will make it easier for you to earn Super Show Contest or make certain Pokémon like your Barpau evolve into Millobellus more quickly.
Never use the Pokémontre
The Pokémontre is obtained very early in the adventure and you will be forced to use it to surf, fly or cut bushes. In short, this little gem of technology will allow you to use the Secret Abilities obtained as you explore Sinnoh, but it is full of other very useful features.
It would be a shame not to use the twenty or so applications available. While some are very simple, like the one to display the time, others are much more practical. We think in particular of the Pedometer to use at Safari Park, at the friendship checker for Pokémon to evolve via the Happiness system, at the Object radar or at the Map with landmarks, very useful for capturing fleeing Pokémon like Crefollet.
Dodge the trainers in your path
If the Pokémon games have indeed been simplified over the years, in particular thanks to the Multi Exp, this 4G remake will still require you to farm a minimum of Experience to level up your pocket monsters. Indeed, the Pokémon League and the fight against Cynthia are not necessarily simple and will require creatures of level 60 or 70 minimum.
Not dodging any trainer on the road will allow you to reach the required level faster without having to spend hours in the Great Underground to get XP.
Never change Pokémon teams
Likewise, not dodging trainers in your path will allow you to level up different Pokémon. The mistake we often make when starting a Pokémon game is to constantly keep the same team with its starter and the first creatures caught on the way. As you face your first arenas, you will quickly realize that own a team with different types will be much more efficient and you should not hesitate to regularly change two or three monsters. Also think about TCs often allowing different types of attacks to be taught to your Pokémon.
Do not buy Poké Balls in sets of 10
A little bonus advice for beginners: by going to a Pokémon store, you will always receive 1 Honor Ball free if you buy your Poké Balls in sets of 10. So, it is better to order the famous Balls by ten.
