fun, news, tips… what else?

Relations with the in-laws are not always easy, and a woman has paid the price. Her mother-in-law blamed her for crazy things only 4 weeks after she gave birth…

The period after childbirth, also called postpartum, can be a complicated time. A new life begins with baby, we have to get used to our body which has changed a lot. And if sometimes you need time in this bubble of love, it happens that the in-laws do not give you much respite. Even your partner might find it difficult to understand what you really need and that can create conflict.

This is what a mother who was exhausted after giving birth to her first child experienced. The baby slept little, the mother had very little time for herself and this even 4 weeks after giving birth. A difficult situation to live with and his partner obviously did not seem to understand. Especially the day when the members of the in-laws arrived home by surprise and decided to stay and eat… Grandpa, grandma, uncle, aunt, cousins, everyone was there!

Her husband sides with his mother

Confused by what she experienced, the mother confided in the Reddit forum. In a long message she explained the situation that led her to the conflict with her in-laws and her husband. 4 weeks after giving birth all her in-laws came to their house, obviously her husband knew about it but she didn’t. They came to eat and the mother had nothing planned. When she offered her husband to order something to eat, he directly refused saying that his parents would find it “rude and unwelcoming”. Her mother-in-law asked her to cook something, whatever as long as it’s homemade.

So she thought of something simple like macaroni and cheese but that obviously didn’t appeal to her stepmother who was used to her stepdaughter preparing big meals for her: “She asked me if I really thought it ‘appropriate’ to serve this to her and her family, mac and cheese. I asked, ‘why not?’ And she went on a whole tirade saying it was disrespectful, that I clearly have no experience of right and wrong. I told him, ‘Excuse me? Did I sign up to welcome an unexpected visit from you?’ and she took it like I didn’t want them there.”

Her husband then reproached her for having refused visits when the baby had just been born and so it was his fault if they came by surprise… Internet users did not share the dad’s opinion at all in the comments!
