40% of French people want to touch it several times a month

The Labor Code now imposes, with some exceptions, the payment of wages once a month. But according to a survey, 39% of French people would like to receive their pay at least twice a month, or even every day. A solution that would save them from falling into the red and paying bank charges.

And if one of the solutions not to fall into the red was to receive your salary not once a month, but more regularly? A perspective that appeals to a large third of the French. According to a survey conducted by OpinionWay for Rosaly, a start-up specializing in the development of salary installments, 39% of the polls estimate that receiving a pay every 15 days would thus make it possible to manage their budget better and get out of it in case of unforeseen expenses. 27% of the polls say they are in favor of paying the salary every week and 19% in real time, know every day.

Looking a little more closely at the results of the survey, we see that people under 35 and on low incomes seem particularly interested in a change in the pace of salary payment. 57% under 35 would like to receive their salary every 15 days (61% just for 18-24 year olds), 46% every week and 29% everyday. This new payment system also appeals to people earning less than 2000 euros per month. 49% of them would like to have their income every 15 days to meet unexpected expenses, 34% every week and 25% everyday.

The rules imposed by the Labor Code

But for now it’s almost impossible to receive his salary several times a month. This possibility is reserved for employees working from home, seasonal employees, intermittent employees and temporary employees, according to paragraph 4 of article L3242-1 of the Labor Code. For them, the salary is paid at least twice a month, sixteen days at most apart, specified in article L3242-3. Otherwise, for the vast majority of employees, remuneration is monthly. And it is once again the Labor Code which imposes paragraph 1 of article L3242-1.

Down payment and advance, what’s the difference?

A principle which knows an exception: the right for the employee to ask his employer for the payment of a deposit corresponding, for a fortnight, half of the monthly remuneration. To avoid ending the month with a negative bank balance…and paying very expensive agios or taking out consumer credit, 26% of private sector employees say they have already requested one from their employer or could do so. to do in case of unforeseen expense.

Authorized or unauthorized overdraft rates in banks

If the employer is obliged to respond favorably to a first request for an advance on salary, more than a third of respondents would not be asked to claim part of their salary in advance for fear of evoking their financial difficulties.

To note that the deposit should not be confused with the advance on salary. This is similar to a credit and will depend on the good will of the employer.
