A card that should become NVIDIA’s entry-level and democratize the Ada Lovelace generation as well as, possibly, DLSS 3.

Mentioned for the first time last August, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti must come to support the release of the RTX 4060 about which information is becoming more and more precise. So what progress for this “Ti”?

A GPU with 4,352 CUDA cores

Keep in mind that everything that is currently published about these two entry-level models is not official, NVIDIA is focusing on the already available Ada Lovelace models, the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080.

The famous and very well informed kopite7kimi, however, advanced several points through an interesting tweet. It would thus be a question of designing this RTX 4060 Ti around an Ada Lovelace GPU variant, the AD106-350, which we did not yet have on any card.

Logically, the number of CUDA cores drops noticeably, even compared to the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti. We are talking about 4,352 cores here when a monster like the RTX 4090 has 16,384 and the RTX 4070 must offer 5,888, a figure which again is not official.

Nothing official of course, but this figure is already talking. Some Internet users actually had fun comparing it to the previous generation: while this RTX 4060 Ti is to replace it, the RTX 3060 Ti already had 4,864 CUDA cores. Significantly more so.

Bandwidth of only 288 GB/s?

The RTX 4060 Ti would also have 8 GB of video memory in GDDR6. There, it is identical to what is found on the RTX 3060 Ti. However, on the latter, we had to settle for memory at only 14 Gbps when it seems to be a question of offering 18 Gbps on the RTX 4060 Ti.

Moreover, we must not forget that the number of CUDA cores is only one of the data of an architecture. Ada Lovelace brings many other improvements to the Ampere generation, but there is still a questionable point because the latest rumors mentioned a 128-bit bus.

This would give a bandwidth of only 288 GB / s when, with its 256-bit bus, the RTX 3060 Ti reaches 448 GB / s. Admittedly, this point does not seem credible. More credible is the limitation to 220 Watts when the RTX 3060 Ti is at 200 Watts and the RTX 4070 could reach 250 Watts.

Finally, the rumor mentions a particularly short PCB. The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 had already surprised us on this point. The PCB of the RTX 4070 should be even smaller, the RTX 4060 Ti would win the prize… if this could lead to a really compact card?
