5-1 victory in the “Finalissima” – Lausanne eliminates Ambri and celebrates the playoff entry – Sport

  • Lausanne beat Ambri 5-1 in the 3rd and deciding game of the pre-playoff series.
  • Damien Riat scored the game-winning goal in the 46th minute, shortly before the end 3 goals within 41 seconds provided a clear result.
  • Thanks to the victory in the “Finalissima”, the people of Vaud will meet Fribourg-Gottéron in the playoff quarter-finals from Friday.

The 3rd pre-playoff duel between Lausanne and Ambri was only decided in the last third. But this time it wasn’t just a tight 2:1. And this time it wasn’t the guests who kept the better end for themselves, but the home team.

The crucial scene in the Lausanne triumph came in the 46th minute when Damien Riat was left completely unguarded in front of the Ambri goal. Lausanne’s Jiri Sekac delivered the disc to his team-mate with his back to goal and Riat then had no trouble making it 2-1.

Sekac hits the empty goal twice

The Leventine then tried to react to the deficit. But they didn’t succeed despite a few chances and bustle in front of the Vaud goal. Shortly before the end (59th), Luca Cereda’s team tried to go without a goalkeeper, but that ended in a debacle.

Within 22 seconds, Sekac, who was again playing strongly, scored twice into the empty goal, a little later – this time again with Ambri goalie Janne Juvonen in goal, but without any remaining Ticino hope – Ronalds Kenins even increased it to 5:1.

Ambri initially took the lead

Ambri experienced the best phase of the game in the first third. The team capitalized on this pressure phase as early as the 7th minute when Noele Trisconi netted the margin to make it 1-0. Only 68 seconds later, however, the Lausanne team were able to equalize: Ambris Inti Pestoni had given away the puck in his own zone with a bad pass and Martin Gernat benefited immediately.

From the second third, the home team turned up the heat and, with a total of 43:24 shots, is the deserved winner of this pre-playoff duel.

This is how it goes

After the amazing final sprint with 6 wins in a row and the Last-minute qualification for the pre-playoffs, the season is over for Ambri anyway. Lausanne, on the other hand, will start the playoff quarterfinals against Fribourg-Gottéron on Friday.
