5 wins: Spätzle casserole with spinach and ham
The ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g spaetzle (ready to cook, from the refrigerated department)
- 450 g spinach (frozen)
- 250 g diced ham
- 200 ml cream
- 125 g spicy cheese (grated)
The preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top and bottom heat and prepare a small baking dish.
2. Prepare frozen spinach and mix with cream.
3. Fry diced ham and mix with spinach. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4. Put everything in the baking pan, mix well and cover with the cheese. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the cheese is golden brown and crispy.
Tip: For the vegetarian version, you can use feta or another ingredient of your choice instead of bacon. Simply fold it into the spinach when preparing. It’s just as easy and tastes just as good.
By the way: Frozen spinach is a real all-rounder. Not only is it extremely practical to store and has a long shelf life, but it is also healthy. On average, frozen spinach contains as much B vitamins as field-fresh spinach, but 30 percent less vitamin C. However, this is usually more than fresh supermarket produce. It is usually a few days old and has lost up to 50 percent of vitamin C.
