It’s official: Mark Wahlberg will reprise the role of Sully in “Uncharted 2”, the sequel to the film adaptation of the video game franchise.
Last March, Mark Wahlberg told ScreenRant that the producers of the Uncharted video game adaptation had asked him to grow a mustache for the filming of Uncharted 2, thus suggesting an imminent start of filming for the continuation of the adventures of Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and Sully (Wahlberg).
The information has just fallen: after 2 years of waiting, Uncharted 2 is confirmed and Mark Wahlberg will take over the role of Sully. ScreenRant underlines that this is the first sequel in which the actor will act for 7 years since the mixed success of Transformers: The Last Knight did not allow him to Mark Wahlberg to resume his role.
With a budget of 120 million dollars, Uncharted grossed 407 million internationally upon its release in February 2022 in the post-Covid period and brought 2.5 million spectators to French theaters.
Tom Holland also back?
It is still unknown to date whether Tom Holland will also be back but the post-credits scene of the first part suggested a continuation of the adventures of Nathan and Sully, it is therefore quite likely that the British actor will reprise his role.
The 27-year-old actor will be on stage at the Duke of York’s Theater from May 11 to August 3, 2024 for the play “Romeo & Juliet” by Jamie Lloyd, and should – according to the latest rumors – begin filming Spider-Man 4 in the fall. Production of Uncharted 2 could therefore be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
