Cult cop Bax aka David Constantin (“Tschugger”) and Meryl Marti (“Die Beschatter”) win the Prix Swissperform in Solothurn.

Bax wins! Actor and director David has been awarded the Prix Swissperform for the best leading role in 2023. “This Bax, sexy and totally megalomaniac, but always with a crystal-clear moral compass is a force,” said Sunday evening at the award ceremony in Solothurn.

«Just your courage, your indestructible energy and your perseverance are worthy of an award. But the fact that you then play the main role the way you do that completely convinced us,” explained actor Samuel Streiff, who moderated the awards ceremony.

Since 2001, the “Prix Swissperform” has been awarded annually to a female and male lead role and a supporting role. In addition, the jury honors a special achievement in Swiss television productions with the special prize.

From 2023, only one best leading role will be gender-neutral and an additional newcomer prize will be awarded.

Each of the four categories is endowed with CHF 10,000.

«Touching and powerful»

But not only David Constantin was happy: Meryl Marti, who plays Agotha in the SRF series “Die Beschatter”, won the Prix Swissperform – Young Talent Award 2023.

«Dear Meryl, we loved watching you make your Agotha hard and angry because she wants to prevent us from seeing how delicate and vulnerable she actually is. That is very touching and very powerful,” says Streiff in the laudatory speech.

The award for the best supporting role goes to the French actress Clarina Sierro for her role as Elise Jacottet on the RTS series Hors Saison.

Special prize to Lale Yavasch

The jury’s special prize this year goes to Lale Yavasch, for her role in the second season of “Neumatt” as a malicious branch manager, and for her role as a snack bar owner with a heart in “Die Beschatter”.

“When you appear on the screen, dear Lale, people look straight away,” explained Samuel Streiff. «Your characters are direct, fragile, warm-hearted, contradictory, impulsive – sometimes all at once. Dear Lale, in our selection you appeared in two SRF series and you took us by storm. »
