Line 15 will be the first to benefit from it in 2030, both in the corridors and in the metro trains.

To achieve this, the Île-de-France region has connected different transmitters to 4G and 5G antennas along the walls of the tunnel where 18 metro trains will enter circulation in six years.

The antennas are placed every 250 meters to keep the connection stable and continuous. A network of 170,000 km of optical fiber is also present.

A network integrated into the Grand Paris Express project

The integration of the 5G network was taken into account from the design of the project since it was placed “under the concrete, and very integrated into the work” declares Thierry Montalant, digital manager at Société des Grands Projets, speaking to BFMTV.

This is the public establishment to which we owe the Grand Paris Express project, the estimated cost of which is 35 billion euros.
