One or the other human-dog combo makes us smile. Because sometimes the four-legged friends and their person are more alike than the duo themselves might realize.

I have to admit: our family dog used to remind me of myself in many situations. Especially when it came to the tousled and tousled fur, which came quite close to my hair in the morning without styling input. But also because she always liked to be left alone – and only trotted to the door for the really important people and sometimes ignored the others quite uncharmingly.

I’ve noticed similar parallels to their loved ones in many other people I’ve met over the years – and I believe that the animal and owner simply influence each other and become more alike over time. But some people radiate the optimistic joy of a Golden Retriever or the calm goodness of a Great Dane when they first meet them without a dog. So: What are dog people and their pets like? Here is a small (of course very subjective) overview.

1. The wire-haired dachshund

People with wire-haired dachshunds are actually often short, but that doesn’t have to be a decisive factor. What sets them apart is that they are usually very down-to-earth, sometimes quite conservative. Suitable for a traditional breed like the wire-haired dachshund. In addition, they are often smart and clever, just like their four-legged roommates. Dachshunds are very trainable and, as a hunting dog or bitch, also like to be kept busy. But they also have their own mind. Wire-haired dachshund owners therefore often have clear values and ideas, but they also like to be on the road a lot and are always planning one task after the next.

2. The Labrador

This dog owner is mostly friendly and a social wonder. Insofar as he:she likes to surround himself with many people and loves getting to know other people. It can often not be colorful enough for the Labrador people. You like to do new things, have fun and make other people happy. Often simply because they bring some light into the mood of:the other with their positive nature.

3. The Husky

Husky owners are often a bit hyper, have a lot of humor and can entertain a whole room with their open-minded manner – or sometimes get on the nerves of everyone present. They are usually loud and therefore wonderful entertainers. In addition, these people like to be active, just like the dog breed that lives with them: cycling, inline skating or hiking – no problem – and preferably of course: with a dog.

4. The Chihuahua

Small and snappy? Sometimes maybe. But that is not the personal trait or trait of Chihuahua owners. Just like their little companions, they usually like to speak their mind and protect the people who are important to them. They rarely let themselves be bullied by people with whom other people would rather not mess with and are often quite stylish on top of that – and those who love them, they rarely let go.

5. The Doberman

This dog breed is not only very intelligent, it also has a strong hunting instinct. The Doberman type is often simply chic and loves physical activity. Anyone who sees the Doberman duo walking down the street often notices a casual elegance of owner and animal. This also accounts for the right portion of self-confidence with which the dog and animal lover: in walk through the area. The straight (almost somewhat raised) posture comes naturally.

Dobermans can be both fearless and exciting, but also loyal, quiet and focused. A very diverse package of animals and people that is not always easy to assess.

6. The Great Dane

These loving giants and their owners rarely look alike, but they often exude the same calm and serenity. Because even if the dog breed looks large and imposing at first glance, Great Danes are actually very sweet and cuddly. They stand for gentleness and are more reserved than excited through everyday life. People who keep this breed can therefore appear deterrent to the outside world, sometimes even cold – but if you get to know them better, they are nice, often very empathetic and good listeners: inside.
