Released in June 2021 in France, the Vivo X60 Pro became my main smartphone for six months. Here is a feedback from my little crush of the year, which deserves to be better known in the eyes of the general public.

Six months with a smartphone gives you time to tame it, get to know it in depth, love its qualities and deal with its faults. In short, it is a lapse of time that makes it possible to obtain a relatively objective opinion and to present a point of view with hindsight. This is exactly what we are going to do with the Vivo X60 Pro.
From its handling to its performance, including its photographic quality, its screen and its autonomy, here are the services offered by the flagship of the Vivo catalog. A high-end mobile device with many qualities and few shortcomings, which clearly fulfilled me for half a year.
Design and screen, what else
One of the strengths of the Vivo X60 Pro lies in its format: I was particularly satisfied with its handling thanks to its thickness of 7.6 mm – medium low – and its contained weight of 179 grams. This is an asset to take into account, which makes a real difference compared to more massive phones.
And let’s face it: coming across heavier and thicker devices is commonplace today. Having relatively small hands, in my opinion, this is a significant asset. Admittedly, the size of its panel – 6.56 inches – is large, but it allows you to have a nice display surface to consume content and surf on social networks.
When changing phones for shorter term tests, the difference is real depending on the dimensions of the product. But she feels herself. Also pay attention to the fragility of the Vivo X60 Pro: without a shell, it can easily break. It benefits from Schoot Xensation Up front and rear protection, which is not indestructible.

For clumsy people like me, the accident happened quickly: it was indeed the case, since the screen and the back cover split after an unexpected fall. In short, choose a protective shell on both sides, it’s safer.
The curved screen brings a real comfort of viewing: some like it, others not. I belong to the first category. On the other hand, the lack of stereo speakers is a real lack that has frustrated me in the long run, especially after handling the Xiaomi Mi 11 for five months, which offers a very good sound experience.
When you watch a video in portrait mode, it happens to block the only speaker grille which is located on the lower edge. It is not ideal.
For the rest, I have absolutely nothing to reproach the Vivo X60 Pro’s screen, despite its perfectible calibration during our technical surveys six months ago. Finally, you do not pay attention to it in use: better, you see only fire.
A good software interface, but not perfect
The software interface is probably the most divisive point in my experience. Basically, it has no crippling flaws, but lacks remain in my eyes. Again, this advice is subjective and may not be shared by everyone.
The biggest downside lies in its management of home automation, which I did not find practical. Android 11 allows you to play with the brightness of its connected bulbs by pressing the standby button for several seconds. It’s too long compared to my expectations.
So each time, I had to unlock my phone, go to the Google Home or Philips Hue app, then activate this or that feature. I will not hide from you that I clearly missed the MIUI Control Center: with, a simple swipe of the finger from the top to the bottom, on the right part of the screen, allows you to manage everything.
Also, managing groups of applications tends to frustrate me: if you store 8 applications in the same group, only the icon of up to four of them will appear on your interface. Where other OS adapt and display it all.
But overall, FunTouch OS will please you and it won’t be a problem – it was a real pleasure to use. The only small bug encountered concerns the background applications, to which I no longer had access at times. In this case, all you have to do is lock the phone and reopen it to solve the problem. Nothing very complicated.
As of this writing (end of December), the last security update was on November 1, 2021: it’s been less than two months, which is very reasonable.
Photos that flatter your retina
Yes, the Vivo X60 Pro is a smartphone that tends to saturate colors to make them pop. Let’s face it: it’s a little treat that we love and that flatters the retina and that of your family and friends. But the camera goes further and offers real photographic quality with an excellent level of detail and dynamic management.
For photos of people or landscapes, the renderings are fun to look at and post on social media. This is the real nice surprise of this phone, which has even become the official photophone of my group of friends. Below is a small selection of shots captured with the 48-megapixel main sensor.
The ultra wide-angle is an excellent ally for capturing enlarged landscape scenes: I didn’t have to pray to use it and appreciate the final renderings. The lower corners certainly lose detail, but the rest of the photo remains very usable and sharp.
The x2 optical magnification has probably been my favorite toy for the past six months, with results that have rarely disappointed me. On the other hand, in low light (photo n ° 4), the sensor is lost with a less present dive. Prefer shots in a well-lit environment.
The fatal combo remains the x2 optical zoom associated with a beautiful portrait mode. The vivid colors and the powerful yet well-managed bokeh make it possible to highlight your subject very well, which should remain static. On animals, it’s a bit more complicated sometimes: you have to do it several times.
Let’s finish this tour of the owner with the Seflies, who today occupy a large part of our photo gallery. The 32-megapixel front sensor is an ideal companion here for high-quality selfies. Again, I was never really disappointed.
Top performance, classic autonomy
I’ll be quick and concise about the performance of this phone: with 12GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, it’s quite simply a racehorse capable of doing anything. Not being a gamer, I never had to complain about other tasks. A faultless in my opinion.
The autonomy of the Vivo X60 Pro is perhaps slightly below the rest, without being catastrophic either: let’s say that plugging in your phone before going to bed is a necessity, since falling below the 20 or 15% mark is relatively common before of sleeping. Even if, basically, you never feel low on battery during a day.

On the other hand, the 33 W load saves the day well. Certainly, other phones do better at this price, but the unit of this Vivo is fast enough to recover a few percentages before leaving for the evening, for example. Overall, it’s very satisfying.
My opinion on the Vivo X60 Pro
The Vivo X60 Pro is an excellent phone in many ways: it excels in a lot of areas (design, screen, photos, power) and enjoys a succulent balance when you gain height. Yes, the software part can be improved on certain points, just like the battery: but its small “flaws” are clearly not prohibitive.
The most embarrassing element at the time of its release was actually its price: 800 euros, which is a significant sum for the general public. Except that since then, reductions have been applied by e-commerce sites. Fnac even sells it off at 600 euros: at this price and with the services it offers, it’s quite simply a golden deal.
The Vivo X60 Pro deserves to exist and to be known by the general public: it should clearly not be underestimated.
