6 years Pokémon Go: Niantic’s lack of effort surprises

Pokémon Go trainers have criticized how little effort Niantic put into the mobile game’s sixth anniversary post.

Pokémon Go had its big global release on July 6, 2016 and quickly became the most popular mobile game worldwide. And to celebrate this sixth year, Niantic revealed the Pokémon Go Anniversary event which launched on July 6, 2022 in addition to an in-game post from the developers.

After seeing this post, hundreds of fans took to Reddit to criticize Niantic’s lack of effort.

Niantic

There have already been many different bugs on Pokémon Go since the release of the mobile game.

To illustrate the anniversary message, Niantic shared a creation where we can quickly see some Pokémon that are not yet in the game.

“Today is a special day, it’s the sixth anniversary of Pokémon Go! What an adventure ! To celebrate the event, we are delighted to share this anniversary creation with you! Drawn by Yusuke Kozaki, this creation captures the excitement and exploration about Pokémon Go, what do you think? We can’t wait to see what Year Six of Pokémon Go has in store for all of us. Let’s GO!”

On Reddit, hundreds of players did not fail to make fun of Niantic for this message, which was a little short and boat for their taste, by only highlighting a creation for the sixth anniversary of the game.

Some trainers surely expected to have real rewards in the game with content adapted to such an anniversary, but it was obviously not in Niantic’s plans. Maybe they have other surprises in store for us in the years to come!
